Firemen Visit!

Room 11 had two awesome firemen visit today. We learnt all about fire safety, how to escape from a fire in your house, the parts of a fire engine and how important it is not to play with lighters and matches. Please ensure that you talk with your child about a safe meeting place. If you live in a two-story house and your child's room is on the 2nd floor, if there is a fire and they can't go out their bedroom door they must try calling out to you guys (their parents) otherwise they will have to crawl out the window and risk breaking a bone if they fall to the ground. I have had a discussion with the class and we called my brother who is a fireman and he explained to the class a broken bone is better than not surviving the fire. Have a lovely, safe holiday. Here is a link to the NZ Fire Service so you and your child can go and draw your escape plan in the event of a fire. See you all in Term 4. Thanks Miss Head :) http://www.fire.org.nz/fire-safety/escape-plans/pages/draw-your-own-escape-plan-online.html

  3. Aston really enjoyed the visit from the firemen. We are now talking about escape plans, where our fire extinguisher is located and how many fire alarms we have. A great reminder of how important it is to talk with our kids about fires and risks we must look out for. Have a lovely holiday Miss Head and kids!! See you in a couple of weeks. From Aston's mum & Aston :0)

  4. Thanks Michelle, Aston and Cameron for your awesome comments. Yes it is very important to have escape plans in case of an emergency as well as to check your smoke alarms in your house. I had a lovely holiday. I hope you both did too. Love from Miss Head :)
